The 6th Annual Convention for Lions District 105sc took place on Saturday 5th April 2025 at the The Stones Hotel, High Post, Salisbury.

This annual get-together for all Lions Clubs in the south of England including the Channel Islands, not only acts as the annual general meeting for all Lions Clubs in the south of England but is an excellent way of catching up with old friends at the meetings and associated social events throughout the weekend. This year's Convention theme was "Celebrating music over the decades".

The Host Night on Friday evening was a great success thanks to a super entertainer - John Jonny who had everyone up and dancing. Lions and Guests dressed in a wide variety on the theme. This fun event is the traditional 'ice breaker' ahead of a busy weekend.

The Convention Meeting started on Saturday morning with District Governor Sandra Manktelow welcoming all Lions and inviting International Director Lion Dr Karl Brewi from the Wien Focus Lions Club, Austria to carry out the formal opening ceremony.

Following the National Anthems, DG Sandra introduced the principle guests and recognised Past District Governors and Lions attending their first Convention. District Officer Lion Paul Allaway read the Mission Statement, Ethic and Purpose.

A poem for Remembrance, "Afterglow" was read by District Almoner Lion Marilyn Skennerton. A short Remembrance ceremony, including the lighting of the Remembrance Candle, followed. 1st VDG Dianne Hopkins read the names of Lions Club members who have passed away in the last 12 months.

The doors were opened and partners and guests departed during a short comfort break.

The AGM part then commenced with Minutes of the 5th Convention proposed and seconded.

Nominations were presented for next year's District Governor - Lion Dianne Hopkins of Basingstoke Lions Club. Lion Tim Hanton of Wokingham Lions Club was nominated for 1st Vice District Governor. Lion Mark Cooper of Fleet Lions Club was Nominated for 2nd Vice District Governor.

Reports were given as read and resolutions debated and voted on.

The International Guest - Past International Director Dr Karl Brewi from Austria inspired convention delegates with his thoughtful address. Lion Karl and his wife Lion Bettina were a joy to host - both full of fun and warmth.
